Top 20 Places to Visit During Long Stays in Paris

First thing first, you are excited about Paris, aren't you? Guess what? I am equally excited for you! I am sure it would take you less than a week to immerse in the beauty of all the iconic attractions like the Eiffel Tower, the Gothic architecture of Notre Dame, Louvre Museum, and the wonderful gardens of the city. But what about the rest of the weeks of your long term stay here?
Here are my handpicked recommendations of the top 20 places to visit in Paris. I chose a fully-furnished serviced apartment in Paris at a convenient spot to explore the city at my own pace, you can do the same. Take a look at my ultimate picks from the trip right below:

1. Disneyland
Out of all the wonderful places to visit in Paris, this one needs no introduction, does it? A list topper for travelers of all ages and my personal favorite. From fairytale experience to huge Disney cinema, endless restaurants to Disney village, and lots of life-size attractions to marvel at. Don't forget to get clicked with your favorite Disney character, okay?

2. Palace of Versailles
With legendary Fountain Shows and the exquisite display of French Art, this emblem of Renaissance and World Heritage is a magnificent site among the places to visit in Paris. Marvel at over 2,300 rooms here with exotic interiors and art pieces all around along with the popular Hall of Mirrors. Something that I cannot forget from my trip was me gasping at the details of the Queen’s Chamber here. I am sure you will love it too.

3. Palais Garnier
You got to have a taste of the legendary Opéra craze of Paris at the popular Opéra Garnier. As of now, the transcendental ballet performances come as an additional treat. You can always marvel at the intricate carvings and the interiors of the legendary opera house. While you can also explore the library within the premises, don't forget to stand by and look closely at the Salon du Glacier (what a beauty!).

4.  Musee Picasso
As the name suggests, this mesmerizing museum is all about Pablo Picasso. The number of paintings exhibited here is as surprising as the number of words in his name (that's 23 by the way). From 10k archive pieces to over 5k art pieces, the museum brims with the gift of the legendary Spanish artist. Every month's first Sunday is free to enter here. My favorite painting is ‘Girl Before a Mirror’, what is yours?

5. Montmartre
I didn't want to stuff you with places to visit in Paris which only takes the material (and the expensive) aspect of traveling into consideration. Known for its one-of-a-kind street always brimming with artists and sculptors, Montmartre can be easily recognized with its iconic white-domed Basilica. Head to the north of Paris to experience this wonderful site which became the inspiration of legends like Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, and more. The Square of Tertre here lets you immerse in the world of art like never before. My little tip would be to go for paid audio guides available here as it made exploring the place quite easier for me.

6.  Catacombs of Paris
As I said earlier, don't only go after the flashy and high-end places during your long stay in Paris. There are so many places to visit in Paris which are unique to the city and this is one such place. It might sound weird (and frankly bizarre too) but this destination is famous around the globe because it is filled with innumerable human skulls and bones. Over 6 million people were shifted to this ossuary in the 18th century due to a lack of cemeteries. If this is the kind of adventure you have on your to-do list, just take your god's name and head straight to the Catacombs of Paris.

7.  Moulin Rouge
How about an exciting cabaret performance in the heart of Paris? I am sure it was already on your list of places to visit in Paris, wasn't it? This extravagant cabaret venue has been known for being the birthplace of Moulin Rouge, world-renowned for her fierce Cancan skills. With romantic interiors and fine music in this vintage cabaret building, this is an ideal place to be with your partner and witness the most exhilarating performance ever. It sounds fantastic already, doesn't it?

8. Galeries Lafayette
There is no such norm that tells me that only the tourist attractions can be the ideal places to visit in Paris. The illuminated Lafayette galleries are equally deserving of being a part of your long stay in Paris. Head to Boulevard Haussmann and take your credit card along to immerse in the most lavish shopping experience. With high-end brands like Louis Vuitton and Hermes spread in 3 massive blocks of the gallery building, you are never falling short of variety here.

9. Seine River
The 3rd longest river of the city sure deserved to be among the top 20 places to visit in Paris. After spending a few days like a tourist in Paris, I am sure you would finally look for a local experience. If there is one thing that Parisians love it is unwinding around the Seine during summers. From lounge chairs to ice cream stalls, tai chi and ballroom classes for kids to a lavish view of the calm waters to look at, enjoy a vacation within vacation here.

10. Panthéon
You must check out the marvelous churches and monuments in Paris to make the most of your long stay here. It is not only the 18th century rival of Rome’s St. Peter's Basilica and London's St. Paul's Cathedral, but also the national mausoleum. It is home to the tombs of some of the biggest names in the history of France. From Marie Curie to Voltaire, Emile Zole to Rousseau, a total of 72 celebrated people have been laid to rest in this historic site. It is one of the places to visit in Paris that have an innate experience to offer.

11. Sainte-Chapelle
Ever wondered how lavish would be the lifestyle of the King of such a powerful country like France? Get a closer look at this restored place of historic significance in the heart of Paris. This is one of the places to visit in Paris that not only lets you admire the regal beauty of the interiors but also admire the ancient Christian relics. The precious Crown of Thorns, stained glass interiors, and intricately carved walls are some of the prized possessions that got me in a trance.

12. The Palais Royal
Another fine example of marvelous royal architecture on my list of places to visit in Paris. Composed of 60 pavilions, this historic royal palace has enjoyed 4 centuries of power which began with King Louis XIII. You can enjoy a lavish meal at the Michelin-starred restaurants inside. I had a great time soaking in the gardens outside near the installation. You can always check out the Comédie-Française and the Palais-Royal theater there.

13. Centre Pompidou
If you are already bored of reading about all the regal detailed architectures and buildings here, this should be on your list of places to visit in Paris. This modern building is a celebrated center of culture and art. Seeing elevators and staircases inside out is one striking feature of the building's outlook. You can enjoy a peaceful read at the cafe within the premises. You can always skim through the lovely variety at the in-house bookstore. It is surely a distinct one among the places to visit in Paris.

14. National Museum of Modern Art
Worthy of separate mention is this wonderful attraction within Centre Pompidou. If you are an admirer of art, this is pure gold for you. Go through over 100,000 artworks and trace the various movements of art that began from the 1900s. From Cubism to Surrealism, Abstract to Pop Art, observe the developments in the painting patterns over the decades. I have to admit, after Money Heist, I was particularly excited about the groundbreaking work of Salvador Dalí.

15. Parc de la Villette
If you are traveling with kids, you must be wondering if there are no parks on my list of places to visit in Paris. This one is officially the largest green landscape in the entire city with themed gardens, fountains, ponds, and more. From Géode IMAX theater for the accompanying adults to the Museum of Science and Technology for kids, this attraction gets you sorted for a good half of the day. During your long stay in the city, you can always head here to play with the kids. The playground here is quite clean. I was lucky enough to be here during some popular film fest in August.

16. Musée Jacquemart-André
Whether you like art or you don't, this is one of such places to visit in Paris which will make you fall for art by the passion of its curators. Designed beautifully by the gifted Ar. Henri Parent, this massive museum is lavishly spread in 5 parts. Curated privately by Nélie Jacquemart and her husband Édouard André, this gorgeous museum is the result of the lifelong labor of the passionate couple. They collected the finest art pieces from around the world just to curate them together for the world to admire.

17. Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
Talking of parks, this is an absolute paradise for the lovers of flowers and nature. After going around and doing all possible touristy things, you would need some places to visit in Paris that offer a sense of peace. The endless varieties of flower rows full of scents and vibrant colors let you float amid the beauty of nature. Make a blog here or click a few pictures to show your Instagram fam that there is so much more to Paris than just Eiffel Tower.

18. The Place du Châtelet
Head to this crowded crossroads to have a more authentic taste of Paris specialties. You can enjoy an elaborate lyrical performance at the iconic Châtelet theatre which can accommodate up to 2,000 people. Don't miss the hints of the Italian Renaissance in the outlook of the iconic structures around. You can also get clicked before the Palmiers fountain as I did.

19. Père Lachaise Cemetery
Since you have almost made it to the last of my list of places to visit in Paris, this is a very interesting place to explore. With friends with you, a month in Paris can push you to explore unusual places like this. With some of the most notable people including Oscar Wilde buried here, the culture of the cemetery sets it apart. It is interesting to note that it has been established by Bonaparte himself.

20. National Library of France
What better place to end this fantastic list than what once used to hold the largest book collection across the globe? Immerse yourself in books from around the world in this aesthetic (and frankly massive) library in the last few days of your long stay in Paris. From antique Greek manuscripts to science and technology, everything can be found in this multi-storeyed library. Its inception was laid by Charles V himself in as early as 1368, isn't that mind-blowing? The vibe of the place impressed me, I am sure it will impress you too.

With so much to explore in this historic city, the list of places to visit in Paris can be endless. I have tried my best to share my personal favorites with you and I hope that you end up enjoying Paris from your lense too. Eat a lot, capture a lot, and let this gorgeous city fill you with its beauty and warmth.
